Goal

The Muslim Student Union (MSU) at UC Irvine is a religious student organization which seeks to serve the Muslim student community by providing religious services and fostering social, spiritual, educational, and moral development in a way that compels Muslim students to contribute positively and uniquely to the campus community and beyond. We seek to be a hub for Muslim students on campus, allowing them to develop and grow and gain a community around them during their time at UCI.

Assalamu Alaikum! My name is Ismail, and I am serving as your President. I am a 3rd year pursuing a Civil Engineering Major and a Global Middle Eastern Studies Minor. My hobbies include wrestling, MMA, cooking, learning history, looking at maps, and spending time at MSU events with my fellow MSUers. As the President, my job is to oversee all MSU events and work with UCI administration to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all muslim students on campus. My job is also to make sure every member has their voices heard, so feel free to ever talk to me about all things MSU. If you ever need anything, either MSU related or not, I am more than happy to try my best to help. I look forward to continue building our brotherhood and sisterhood this year and strengthening our Islamic identity and our Iman!

Asalam alaykum! My name is Sawsan Dibseh and I am the Vice President for the 2023-2024 school year! I am a fourth year Criminology student, and inshallah am planning on going to law school (please feel free to reach out and ask me any questions about that as I’m currently applying to law school as I’m writing this lol)! In my free time I like to play with my cat Simsim, go get boba with friends, watching movies and drive around! As the Vice President, my job is to help oversee the different events that we hold while also overseeing our amazing committee such as Tarbiyyah! What I’m looking forward to this year is all of the amazing events that we have planned and to getting closer to my deen with the help of the beautiful Muslim community at UCI! One specific event that I absolutely can’t wait for is Ramadan on campus, that truly is the time where you feel so connected to Islam and the community! In my free time I like to make latch hook rugs and watch movies/shows. As secretary, my responsibilities include sending weekly newsletters/E-cals and booking venues for our amazing events. This year I look forward to helping build a stronger Muslim community and gain knowledge while connecting more with the deen. Asalamualaikum! My name is Eesa Quraishi and I am the treasurer for MSU this year! Currently, I am a third year human bio major and hope to pursue a career in medicine in the near future. Some of my hobbies include weight lifting, playing video games and many different sports with my close friends. As your treasurer I will be making sure the club’s financial side and expenses are taken care of properly, while also ensuring that the events are planned with a thorough budget. InshAllah I look forward to meeting a lot of new members and forming lasting bonds through MSU, while also furthering/strengthening my faith with those around me. As Salamu Alaikum everyone!! My name is Sameeha Shaikh and I am so excited to be MSU UCI’s Public Relations Chair for the 2023-2024 year! I am a fourth year Business Econ major with a management minor. I love going out with friends, hiking, exploring new areas in socal because I’m from the Bay Area, cooking/baking, going to the beach, finding new coffee shops, and lastly since being PR I have found a new love for photography! As your PR, my job is to handle all the socials, the website, make the flyers, outreach, and maintain good relations with those inside and outside of UCI! I truly love this position because it helps me meet and connect with amazing, new people in Socal. If you ever have any questions or just need someone to talk to please feel free to reach out to me!
